This Remarkable Bridge Turns Into An Underwater Tunnel Connecting Denmark And Sweden
When team VT visited Copenhagen, one of the first things we saw once the plane broke through the clouds and began its decent was this enormous bridge. Called the Øresund Link, it connects Denmark and Sweden – while the the tunnel section still allows large ships to pass. And considering that they are almost 10,000 metres apart at this this point, connecting these two countries is no mean feat.
This incredible structure is not without its pop references. It was pivotal to the acclaimed Scandinavian drama series, The Bridge, in which a body is discovered on the middle of the bridge – bringing up questions over which country should investigate the murder. Furthermore, it is one of the longest bridges in the world!
